Great Barrington Utility Boxes Get Graphic Facelift

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Historic scenes and personalities of Great Barrington are now displayed on electric Utility Boxes in the downtown area.    These decorative additions to the otherwise drab utility boxes were a project of the town's Historic District Commission. The boxes are found  mostly on sidewalk locations from Domaney's Liquors to the Big Y plaza.    The project was spearheaded by Historic District Commission Vice Chair Jim Mercer and executed by Franklin Marvel of Cyanta Studios in Boston. Berkshire South Regional Community Center Hosts Free Community Thanks Supper

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire South Regional Community Center will host its 16th Annual Community Thanks Supper on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023 at 15 Crissey Road, Great Barrington.     Every year, Berkshire South gathers local community members, both familiar faces and new acquaintances, for an evening of gratitude and traditional Thanksgiving food. This year's feast will be prepared by local volunteers and chefs including cookbook author Janet Elsbach, chef Hank Ferlauto, Eli Holland, and Dorothy McTeigue. Winterlights Returns to Naumkeag

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The event known as Winterlights will have three Trustees of Reservations' properties awash in holiday light displays starting Nov. 24.    Tickets are now available to purchase online.   This year, Winterlights returns to Stevens-Coolidge House and Gardens in North Andover, Naumkeag in Stockbridge, and the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate in Canton.    The immersive holiday light displays also feature festive music and seasonal treats. Berkshire Communities Get Community Transit Grants

Sandisfield Fire Chief Resigns

SANDISFIELD, Mass. — The Sandisfield Times is reporting the town's public safety chiefs are out.   According to a special report of the newsletter Tuesday night, Fire Chief Ralph Morrison resigned at Monday's Select Board meeting and his brother, Police Chief Michael Morrison, is expected to be sacked.    The chiefs' leadership have been have been questioned since a fire tanker truck was wrecked in September while being driven to a fire by the police chief.    The fire chief had the tanker towed to his auto garage in Tolland, hampering an investigation, and it became known the truck hadn't been properly inspected in years.    The

Lee Pavement Marking Operations Tonight

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced pavement marking operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Lee, between mile marker 7.4 and 14.6.    Work will start at 9:00 p.m. tonight and will continue until 5:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11.  During the duration of the work, lane closures will be in effect.   Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work areas.    Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.     All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without

Great Barrington Gets AAA Bond Rating

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Town of Great Barrington has received a AAA bond rating, which affords the town the most favorable terms for borrowing.    "This designation reflects the work of the town Finance Committee and Selectboard, and is ultimately a benefit to our town taxpayers," said Town Manager Mark Pruhenski.   Pruhenski also credited Town Accountant Allie Crespo and Treasurer/Collector Alicia Dulin for their work in managing town finances.
