 STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The Stockbridge Grange is inviting the community to a dinner event scheduled for Sunday, April 21, 2024. The menu features a stuffed breast of chicken with potatoes and vegetables, with dessert choices including chocolate cream or lemon meringue pie. The dinner, priced at $15.00 per person, will be available for take-out only with pick-up times from noon to 1:30 pm at the Stockbridge Grange Hall located at 51 Church Street in Stockbridge.  BOSTON, Mass. -- Laura Stephen of Great Barrington finished 26th in the women's 60-64 age group at Monday's Boston Marathon, the top Berkshire County finisher in their division at the 128th running of the event. Stephen crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 42 minutes, 52 seconds, 12,633rd in the overall field of more than 30,000 runners who made the trek from Hopkinton to Copley Square in Boston. More than a dozen Berkshire County residents are listed among the finishers on the Boston Athletic Association website. BECKET, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing crews will be conducting daytime and overnight hour guardrail repair, drainage work, bridge repair, and tree trimming operations at various locations and times on I-90 eastbound and westbound during the week of Sunday, April 14. Lane closures will be in place during the construction operations and traffic will be able to travel through the work zones.  Monday, April 15, is Patriots Day, a state holiday marking the anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord that began the American Revolution. The day has been celebrated on the third Monday in April since 1969.
It was on the morning of April 20, 1775, that Paul Revere and other riders began the alert across and beyond Massachusetts Colony that troops were planning to advance from Boston to the towns of Lexington and Concord. They were to seize a cache of gunpowder and arms and capture revolutionaries Sam Adams and John Hancock. (Local legend claims that Israel Bissell, later of Hinsdale, rode all the way to Philadelphia, but most historians dismiss it.)

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Berkshire County Fall Senior Golf series returns in September with events on five consecutive Wednesdays starting Sept. 18. It is the 22nd year of the series, which is a fund-raiser for junior golf in the county, and it is open to players aged 50 and up. The series will feature two divisions for each event based on the combined ages of the playing partners. Golfers play from the white tees (or equivalent) with participants 70 and over or who have a handicap of more than 9 able to play from the forward tees.  GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Triplex Cinema and Great Barrington Public Theater announced a special screening of the recent film "Freud's Last Session" based on the Mark St. Germain play that originally premiered in 2009 at the Barrington Stage Company. The filmed version of "Freud's Last Session" is written by St. German and Matthew Brown, who also directed the film. The St. Germain play was based on a famous series of Harvard University lectures by professor of psychiatry Armand Nicholi, which Nicholi later turned into a book.
