Dawn Z. Berube, 67

October 24, 2017


LENOX, Mass.— Dawn Zippel Farley Berube, 67, died Tuesday evening, October 24, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.



Dawn was born in New York City on December 28, 1949, to Florence Fitzgerald Benner and the late Paul Zippel. She attended Rudolf Steiner School and Waldorf Schools of New York, graduating in 1967. After high school, Dawn attended College in Rochester, N.Y., and England to study Pottery.

In her earlier years, Dawn worked at the Red Lion Inn as a bartender before becoming a massage therapist. Later she became a real estate agent at Wheeler & Taylor, then at William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty. Her special connection to people made her a successful broker. She was loved and admired by all the realtors she worked with.  Dawn made every transaction a pleasure for buyers, sellers and brokers.



Dawn loved The Berkshires and every season – each bringing the things she loved to do. She loved being an athlete. One could always see Dawn running or walking for miles through Lenox. She was an avid runner, cyclist, cross country skier, hiker, and loved being at Lenox Fit, where she met Bobby. She competed in many of the Josh Billings Triathlons. She also had a love for gardening, where she was known for beautiful flower gardens.



Dawn and Bobby were married on May 18, 2013, in their backyard surrounded by their beautiful flowers and loving family and friends.



Besides husband Bob of Lenox, she is survived by her son, Conner T. Farley and significant other Becky Stedman of Pittsfield; Conner's father, Tom Farley of Stockbridge; Dawn's mother, Florence Fitzgerald Benner of Dalton; Dawn's beloved sister, Kathryn Benner of Housatonic; her beloved brother, Conroy Zippel of Sunny Valley, Oregon; her nephew, Stephenlee Costigan and his family of Irvine, Calif.; her niece, Ashley Kruszyna and family of Otis; three stepchildren, Mark Berube of Hingham, Mass., Kathleen Puhalski and husband Walt of Glen Wood Landing, N.Y., and Mary Beth Berube and partner Jen Richard of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Coco and Zeke Berube and Colin, Dylan and Cameron Puhalski; mother-in-law Frances Berube of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law Gary and wife Rokeya Berube of Hartford, Conn.; and sister-in-law Patricia and husband John Coatti of Vero Beach, Fla.



Besides her father, Dawn is predeceased by two brothers, Richard Zippel and George Benner.



Funeral notice: Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, 2017, from noon to 3 p.m., Roche Funeral Home, Lenox. Following visitation, family and friends are invited to one of Dawn's favorite places in Lenox, the Olde Heritage Tavern from 4 to 6 p.m. to continue to celebrate Dawn's life.  



Dawn loved X-C skiing at Notchview Reservation, part of The Trustees of Reservations. In lieu of flowers, donations/checks may be made payable to "The Trustees," memo line: memory of Dawn Farley Berube, Notchview Reservation. I remember Dawn from 1968. She was my camp counselor in Depitts, NY. She was larger than life--statuesque, very charismatic. She had just gotten the album Fresh Cream. So sorry to hear of the news.
