DALTON, Mass. — Mrs. Barbara Ann (Murphy) Walker, 76, passed away May 20, 2018, in Dalton, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

She was born to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Murphy on December 23, 1941, in Leominster, Mass. She graduated from high school at the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, Mass. She also attended the University of Massachusetts. Barbara was a business owner in the clothing industry, as well as a real estate agent, until retiring in 1998. 

Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Franklin Walker, who passed away in 1998. She is survived by her sons, J.B. Laughnane (Maureen), Michael Laughnane and Christopher Laughnane; daughter Kelly Lussier (David); sister Jo Ann Farren (Bruce); and brothers John and Michael Murphy. 

Barbara’s heart was centered with her family. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She leaves her seven grandchildren, Patrick, Lisa, Christopher and Melissa Laughnane, and Megan, Shannon and Bridget Lussier. She also leaves behind her dog, Marley. 

Barbara loved bocce, bridge, corn hole, and traveling to Foxwoods Casino. She was an avid reader and loved jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of the Italian American Club and A.C.B.L. Life Master.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Walker will be held, Friday, May 25, 2018, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Dalton, with Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor, officiating. 

Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or the Dalton CRA, in care of the funeral home.
