Florence Proulx, 96

August 09, 2023

Florence T. (Perras) Proulx, Duprea, Griffin, daughter of Franklin E. Perras and Pearl B. Burdick Perras died on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Craneville Place in Dalton. Florence was also the step daughter of Lawrence Briggs. Florence was pre – deceased by her sister’s Clara E. Lewis and Ruth F. Annis Sorel and her brother’s Franklin E. Perras Jr. and Lawrence A Perras. Florence was also pre-deceased by her son Gregory W. Duprea.

Florence is survived by her son Randall P Duprea and daughter in law Doreen C. Duprea, two granddaughters, Gloria A. Duprea and Abra R. Duprea, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews with special mention to her niece Becky Cole for all her help and caring.

Florence grew up in Florida and Savoy as a young child, moving to Adams and North Adams as a teenager. She moved to Stamford, Vermont to start raising her family. After her divorce in 1958 she moved to Hinsdale where she made her home with her two young boys. She began her career in retailing working for several stores in Berkshire County.

Florence loved doing Ancestry’s of her Family, trading old pictures and information with distant relatives. She loved reading and writing poetry, with many being published. As everyone can attest to, she loved writing, sending and receiving all kind of greeting cards. She loved angel’s and had quite the collection! She loved all animals, always with fond memories of her pet goat, relative’s cows and horses and her many cats and dogs throughout her life.

Florence was an active hiker and loved to walk, some days doing 5 miles or more. Florence often mentioned how she missed the many family gatherings which were such a huge part of her life, and how she loved and missed all the loved ones that passed before her. Florence was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church where she was an active member of the daughters of the King. Florence loved life, her family, church but most of all she loved God!
