ADAMS, Mass. -- If competitive high school cycling was a thing in this neck of the woods, Evan Arthur might have found the sport sooner.   And he probably would have done quite well for himself.   Instead, all he did in four years at Mount Greylock was help continue the school’s runs of eight straight Western Mass cross country titles and seven straight state Nordic ski crowns.   And in the spring of his senior year, the recent high school graduate found a new athletic pursuit. MOUNT HERMON, Mass. -- The Berkshire Attack girls lacrosse team recently dropped a 13-9 loss to Catamount Lacrosse at Northfield Mount Hermon School.   Hoosac Valley Regional High School's Sarah Tomkiewicz and Mount Greylock's Carolyn Jones each scored three goals for the Attack.   Wahconah's Maddie Nief and Mount Greylock's Brooke Phelps anchored the Berkshire defense, which got 15 saves from Hoosac Valley's Abi Disbrow.

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- The Adams-Cheshire Swat 16-and-under softball team defeated Great Barrington, 12-9, on Thursday in the Berkshire County Championship.   McKenzie Kupiec and Caitlyn Nicol combined for the win in the circle in a game played at Olympia Meadows.   Katherine McNeice led the Swat offense with a pair of hits.   ACS played strong defense early, but Great Barrington was able to string together hits and rally to draw close.   ACS will play at the Doyle Complex on Monday at 6 against the Berkshire Force in the tournament semi-finals.   Thursday’s scheduled final in the 12-and-under division between Dalton and the Berkshire Force was rescheduled
