Greylock Boys
The Greylock seventh- and eighth-grade boys travel basketball team overcame illness and an opening-game loss to reach the semi-finals of the North Adams tournament over the weekend.

“Derek [Paris], our point guard came down with the flu Thursday and we thought for sure he would not play but Saturday morning, but he decided to play even though he still didn’t look too healthy,” Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “But once the game started he put all our concerns to rest when he scored season high 27 points and shot very effectively from the field.

“He wasn’t getting to the rim as much, but his jump shot was spot on.”

Adams 61, Greylock 50
Casey Meczywor scored 20 points, and Kobe Valois added 17 for Adams. Shawn Kastner had 10 points in the win.

“Unfortunately, Adams just out hustled us for loose balls,” Rick Paris said. “Adams is a relentless team. You have to be able match their intensity, otherwise it’s tough to beat them. If you let up at all they will go on a run and thats what happened in the second quarter when we tried to rest a couple players and we were just not able to fully cut back into that lead.”

Derek Paris had 27 points and 14 rebounds, and Max McAllister scored eight for Greylock.

Greylock 57, Dalton 46
Derek Paris and McAllister each finished in double figures with 27 and 11 points, respectively, and Dylen Harrison had nine points on three 3-pointers. Thomas Martin added seven points and five rebounds in the win.

Dalton’s Max Tobler hit five 3s fro 15 points, and Brody Calvert and Drew Wendling added 10 and seven, respectively.

Greylock 66, CYC  36
Paris had 25 points and 10 rebounds. Chase Doyle scored eight, and Henry Art grabbed eight rebounds in the win.

CYC’s Jaymair Scott scored eight, and Carmelo Southard-Crump added seven.

Greylock 50, Boys & Girls Club Blue 36
Martin grabbed 16 boards for Greylock, which got 18 points from Paris and eight points and seven rebounds from Dylen Harrison.

Chase Racine scored 11, and Jared Jansen had nine for the Boys & Girls Club.

Greylock 37, Dalton 35
Paris scored 21 points, Dylen Harrison had eight points and nine rebounds. Tate Kuster added six points for Greylock.

Max Tobler scored 12, and Brody Colvert added six for Dalton.

Semi-Final
North Adams 40, Greylock 27
Ben Moulton scored 12 to lead North Adams.

“North Adams did a great job defensively against us,” Rick Paris said. “Even so, we were able to take the lead at the end the third. But in the fourth, things unraveled on us. We ended up giving up 23 points which was more than we gave up in three quarters combined.  Fouls started compounding and to top it off one of our players received a technical foul while two others fouled out. North Adams played great defense and kept us from scoring double digits in any quarter.”

Derek Paris had 11 points and 14 rebounds. Harrison scored eight in the loss.
