NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Absentee ballots for the Tuesday, Sept. 4, state primary election are now available at most town and city clerks' offices.
The last day to register to vote or change party affiliation for the primary is Aug. 15 by 8 p.m.; the last day to register to vote in the general election on Nov. 6 is Oct. 17 by 8 p.m.
If you are unable to vote on Election Day, you may stop by your local clerk's office and vote any time during office hours. Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked no later than Aug. 15.
Office hours in North Adams are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you cannot physically come in then you can send a request to have a ballot mailed to you. Keep in mind that they must be mailed to you, so allow ample time for this. The Williamstown clerk's office says any written request for an absentee ballot must be made by Friday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m.
Ballots must be returned to the clerks' offices before the close of the polls.
