PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire County Historical Society at Herman Melville’s Arrowhead has appointed Jana Laiz, emeritus writer-in-residence, to the position of education coordinator.
The education coordinator will be engaging in outreach to local schools and colleges; planning and executing educational programming both on-site and off in person or through instructing other BCHS staff and volunteers who teach these programs; and leading in the development of online resources and remote learning opportunities in supporting educational programming of all kinds.
Through the education coordinator position, Laiz will be the link between the Berkshire County Historical Society and the area schools, allowing for the expansion of local history projects and learning objectives.
The Berkshire County Historical Society looks forward to the commitment and passion that Laiz will bring to the role.
"I am excited to have Jana on board in a new role here at Arrowhead. I know that she will bring our education program to the next level, whether it be having students engage with us on site or online," said executive Director Lesley Herzberg.
